Isao Kumano, one of Japan's top mastering engineers, designed the SMB-01L with audio professionals in mind. Its objective: to reproduce the sound of large monitoring speakers in headphones.
The new SMB-01L uses a large diameter driver for generous, deep bass. 50 mm wide, the MT050A speaker from Foster Electric Inc is what is best from this Japanese speaker manufacturer. Phonon extensively tested various reference materials during the development stages to ensure the best sonic balance for all genres of music.
Open vs. Closed
The SMB-01L has the particularity of being able to be changed into closed or open headphones. Each helmet is supplied with a screwdriver and 2 sets of 2 plates (2 open plates and 2 closed plates).
