Nouvelle mise à jour firmware pour l’Element IV : DSP L/R, Native Volume et zero-crossing

New firmware update for the Element IV: DSP L/R, Native Volume and zero-crossing

The JDS Labs Element IV continues to evolve at an impressive pace. With the new v2.1.0 firmware update, JDS Labs adds several highly anticipated features, including independent left/right DSP, new "native" volume logic, and an improved zero-crossing detection system.

As a reminder, the Element IV is available now on the Cool Kids Audio store.

Up to 24 Independent EQ Bands

The previous v2.0.2 update had already introduced a major evolution: the ability to use separate PEQ bands for the left and right channels. The result: up to 12 EQ bands per channel, for a total of 24 bands.

This is particularly interesting for:

  • correcting headphone imbalance,
  • compensating for hearing asymmetry,
  • precisely adjusting a hi-fi system,
    or creating ultra-personalized profiles.

This level of flexibility remains extremely rare on an integrated desktop DAC/headphone amplifier.

New "Native Volume" Control

With firmware v2.1.0, JDS Labs announces a complete rewrite of the volume logic.

The objective:

  • improve accuracy,
  • make transitions smoother,
  • optimize gain management,
  • and offer an even more transparent experience in everyday use.

Volume control was already one of the historical strengths of the Element range, particularly thanks to its huge, ultra-pleasant rotary potentiometer. This update pushes the user experience even further.

Improved Zero-Crossing: Fewer Clicks and Cleaner Transitions

The new "zero-crossing" detection improves how the device applies certain audio changes to limit audible artifacts such as small clicks or pops.

In practice, this allows for:

  • cleaner transitions,

  • more discreet switching,

  • and an even more premium user experience.

A Product That Continues to Evolve After Purchase

One of the most interesting aspects of the JDS Labs Element IV is the frequency of firmware updates.

Since its release, JDS Labs has already added:

  • DSP on optical input,

  • onboard profiles,

  • more PEQ bands,

  • Core integration,

  • iOS improvements,

  • and now this major DSP/volume evolution.

This is far from a static product: the Element IV clearly continues to gain functionality over time.

Element IV Available at Cool Kids Audio

The JDS Labs Element IV is available at Cool Kids Audio.

If you're looking for a high-end DAC/headphone amplifier combining:

  • power,

  • excellent measurements,

  • advanced DSP,

  • onboard parametric EQ,

  • preamp outputs,

  • and serious software support,

the Element IV remains one of the most interesting propositions on the market today.
