Share
JDS Labs has officially released Core for iOS, bringing full mobile control to the Element IV for the first time. With this update, the Core ecosystem is now available across desktop, Android, and iOS platforms, completing the intended user experience behind Element IV.
Released alongside firmware version 1.7.4, the new iOS application allows users to configure and control their device directly from an iPhone or iPad.
Remote Control of Hardware DSP
Core provides access to Element IV’s onboard DSP and system settings through a clean external interface. Users can now adjust parameters such as parametric EQ, headphone presets, crossfeed, loudness compensation, and listening profiles without interacting with the device itself.
Importantly, all processing remains hardware-based. Settings are stored inside Element IV, ensuring that EQ and profiles remain active regardless of the connected source or computer.
Improved Workflow and Flexibility
The arrival of iOS support significantly improves day-to-day usability, particularly in multi-device environments. Users can now adjust their listening setup in real time without opening desktop software, making Element IV easier to integrate into both desktop and living-room systems.
Firmware v1.7.4 also introduces stability improvements and refinements to device communication developed during the iOS implementation process.
A Platform Designed to Evolve
With Core now available on all major platforms, Element IV moves beyond the traditional DAC and headphone amplifier model. Features and usability continue to expand through firmware and software updates, extending the lifespan and flexibility of the hardware.
JDS Labs products, including the Element IV, are available through Cool Kids Audio.
