2-channel tube compressor

The comp.two is based on a fully balanced tube circuit. The main audio path consists of SOWTER input and output transformers, two high-end coupling capacitors and input and output tubes (NOS 6N3 and 6CG7).

"True" dual mono relies on separate power supplies for each channel. The potentiometers are sealed ALPS models. The VU meters can be calibrated using a trimmer accessible through small holes in the front panel. All switches use relays or act directly on the control voltage. The two bypass switches isolate the circuits, so that only the input is connected directly to the output (true bypass). An integrated circuit is used to drive the VU meter. Apart from this circuit, the comp.two is built from discrete components and hand-wired in Germany.

In addition to the essential controls such as input, output, threshold, attack and release, the comp.two offers a side-chain with a built-in filter (neutral, 50, 74, 110 and 160 Hz). This filter removes low frequencies that could otherwise disturb the compressor's behaviour. The special "amp-only" mode uses only the input and output stages, without compression.

Some will say: "Tube compressors sound good, but they're too slow. I prefer VCA compressors for their speed." The comp.two does both: with an attack down to 600 µs, it is extremely fast, while delivering smooth, truly musical compression.
