Reference electrostatic headphones
The CORINA is Dan Clark Audio's electrostatic headphone and the successor to the VOCE. It keeps its 88 mm electrostatic driver and adds the acoustic metamaterial tuning system (AMTS™) developed for the Stealth and Expanse. The goal: the resolution and speed of electrostatics, with bass and tonal density worthy of the best planar headphones.
An electrostatic with body
Many electrostatics emphasise the treble at the expense of the low end. The CORINA takes the opposite approach: deep, punchy bass, rich and natural mids, and detailed treble free of harsh peaks thanks to AMTS, which eliminates standing waves between the driver and the ear. The soundstage is wide and deep. An electrostatic that also convinces on rock or electronic music, not just classical and jazz.
Comfort
- Self-adjusting headband that spreads pressure over a large area
- Ergonomic ear pads with a suede-like surface that limits heat and moisture
- Open-back earcups, premium finish, made in San Diego
Which amplifier?
Like any electrostatic headphone, the CORINA cannot be plugged into a regular headphone output. It requires an electrostatic amplifier (or energizer) compatible with Pro Bias 580 V, the Stax Pro standard. Its 2 m cable ends in a 5-pin Pro Bias plug. Its large driver makes it slightly less sensitive than the average electrostatic: choose an amp with plenty of headroom. Feel free to contact us for help choosing.
