The EXPANSE is Dan Clark Audio's reference open-back headphone, the open counterpart to the Stealth. It combines the brand's 4th-generation V-Planar planar magnetic driver with its Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System (AMTS™), for a presentation that is highly resolving, spacious and perfectly fluid.
Soundstage, detail and neutrality
AMTS shapes the frequency response and eliminates standing waves in the treble: the result is airy, natural highs with no artificial brightness. The EXPANSE stands out for its wide, deep soundstage, very clear layering and a tight, deep-reaching bass that is rare in an open-back headphone. A headphone as relevant for audiophile listening as for critical mixing and mastering work.
