Active 3-way cardioid studio monitor with built-in subwoofer
The Dutch & Dutch 6c Studio is an active networked cardioid monitor, acoustically identical to the 6c but without the streaming functions and the Ascend/BACCH platform. It is designed for one thing: making sound mixing decisions, and finding them again from one room to the next. Balanced XLR input, AES3 loop-through, channel switch, built-in room correction.
A clear job description: monitoring
Everything that does not serve studio work has been stripped out. No Spotify Connect, no Roon, no spatial processing: the 6c Studio does monitoring only, with the same drivers, the same amplification and the same acoustic behaviour as the hi-fi version. That omission is deliberate, and it simplifies operation: one input, one loop-through, one channel switch, nothing to configure before you can listen.
Acoustic cardioid directivity: less room in the mix
The 6c Studio achieves its cardioid directivity through acoustic means, not DSP. The built-in 8-inch subwoofer is mounted on the rear of the cabinet and couples to the wall behind it as soon as the speaker sits less than a metre away, while the midrange driver's rear wave is vented through side slots to cancel the energy that would otherwise wrap around the cabinet. The practical consequence in the control room: virtually no reflection off the front wall in the bass and lower midrange, so bass stays legible and the stereo image does not shift when you move your head.
Reliable decisions and repeatability
A room presents two distinct problems. Above the Schroeder frequency, typically 100 to 200 Hz, they are reverberant in nature and depend on the speaker's off-axis radiation; below it, they are resonant. The 6c Studio addresses both: controlled directivity and a smooth off-axis response in the upper range, cardioid behaviour combined with RoomMatching room correction in the lower. This is what makes a mix translate — the room's signature weighs less on what you hear, and two different control rooms fitted with 6c Studio converge.
Drivers, amplification and level
Three ways: a 1-inch aluminium/magnesium alloy dome in a waveguide, a 6-inch aluminium cone midrange on the front baffle, and a built-in 8-inch aluminium cone subwoofer mounted on the rear of the cabinet. Class-D amplification delivers 360 W in total, with power factor correction and hybrid cooling. Response covers 50 Hz – 20 kHz ±1 dB, extending to 30 Hz at -6 dB, and the maximum level reaches 106 dB continuous from 50 Hz upwards. Each speaker measures 38 × 22 × 30.8 cm and weighs 14 kg — a format that fits on a control-room desk or on stands in a normal-sized studio, with no additional subwoofer to plan for.
Integration into an existing workflow
The input is balanced on XLR, peak level +24 dBu with a +4 dBu setting, alongside a sensitivity switch and a Left / Right / Mono channel switch — handy for mono checks and for avoiding wiring mistakes. The AES3 loop-through on XLR allows daisy-chaining. The network, available over Wi-Fi and Ethernet, is used for control and for setting up RoomMatching from a web interface or the dedicated app. Universal power supply, 110–230 V AC, 50–60 Hz.
Expandability: the 6S bass module and the Statement Six system
The optional 6S bass module, also cardioid, forms the Statement Six full-range cardioid system together with the 6c. It brings more dynamic headroom, better control over floor reflections and RoomMatching extended across the entire spectrum — useful for control rooms that regularly work the bottom end.
Available finishes
Matte white or matte black. Price per pair.
Optional speaker stands
The official speaker stands for Dutch & Dutch 6c are designed specifically for the 6c and 6c Studio. Two heights are offered, 71 cm and 106 cm, to align the tweeter axis with the listening position depending on the control-room layout. Sold as a pair, available as an option.
