Controlled directivity monitoring speakers

The Dutch & Dutch 8c Studio are high-end, 3-way active studio monitors designed for demanding professional environments. They incorporate advanced DSP management, controlled cardioid directivity, and an extended frequency response, enabling precise work in mixing, mastering, and production. Their design aims for optimal mix propagation, even in minimally treated rooms.

Acoustic design

The architecture is based on a 3-way active configuration combining two 8-inch woofers dedicated to bass, an 8-inch cardioid midrange driver, and a dome tweeter with a waveguide. This design allows for controlled dispersion, reduced rear reflections, and improved clarity in the lower midrange, a critical area for tonal balance.

Cardioid directivity

The cardioid pattern in the midrange significantly limits the energy sent to the rear of the speaker. This reduces the room's acoustic impact, improves stereo imaging accuracy, and stabilizes the perceived frequency response, particularly in smaller studios.

Bass & low-frequency extension

The low-frequency range is handled by two long-excursion woofers coupled with proprietary DSP processing. This configuration allows for a response extending down to 20 Hz without the need for an external subwoofer, while maintaining control, speed, and low distortion.

DSP & part calibration

The 8c Studio speakers incorporate a DSP that enables transducer time alignment, system equalization, and room matching. Users can adjust the response based on distance from walls, thus optimizing neutrality in various listening configurations.

Integrated amplification

Each speaker features dedicated Class D tri-amplification: one module for the bass, one for the midrange, and one for the treble. This distribution guarantees headroom, dynamics, and precise control of each frequency band.

Placement & Integration

Designed to operate close to the rear wall, the 8c Studio speakers take advantage of the room's acoustics rather than being affected by them. This positioning facilitates their integration into compact studios while ensuring consistent bass reproduction.

Connectivity

The speakers feature balanced XLR analog inputs, AES3 digital inputs, and network connectivity for software control and DSP configuration. A controlled subwoofer output is also available.
