All-in-one network player, DAC and preamplifier

The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 combines a network audio streamer, a digital-to-analogue converter and a balanced-output preamplifier in a single chassis. Connect it to a power amplifier or a pair of active speakers and you have a complete digital source, controlled from its touchscreen or from a smartphone. As the top version of the DMP-A6 Gen 2, the Master Edition keeps every function of the standard model while upgrading the analogue section: reinforced linear power supply, higher-grade clocks and op-amps, and a fully balanced output stage.

6-inch screen and machined chassis

The front panel is dominated by a 6-inch LCD touchscreen displaying the navigation interface, album artwork and virtual VU meters, legible enough to operate the unit from the listening position. The multifunction rotary knob, ringed with a customisable RGB halo, handles volume and navigation. The CNC-machined aluminium chassis, available in silver or black, measures 270 x 187 x 90 mm and weighs around 5 kg.

Audio architecture and conversion

Conversion relies on two ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chips, one per channel, for fully independent stereo conversion. USB handling is entrusted to a third-generation XMOS XU316 processor supporting DSD512 and PCM 32-bit/768 kHz. The ultra-low-noise linear power supply (below 40 uV), reinforced on this Master Edition, feeds a fully balanced analogue output stage available on XLR (5.2 V) as well as RCA (2.6 V).

Connectivity and integration

The DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 can act as the digital hub of an entire system: USB-B, optical, coaxial and HDMI ARC inputs for a television, plus USB-A, HDMI, optical and coaxial digital outputs feeding an external DAC. An M.2 NVMe 2280 slot accepts an SSD of up to 4 TB (not supplied) to host a local library. On the network side there is a Gigabit Ethernet port, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, and a 12 V trigger output switches the amplifier on together with the source.

Streaming, signal processing and room correction

The unit is Roon Ready and supports Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Amazon Music HD, HighResAudio, Deezer, AirPlay and UPnP/DLNA; Apple Music runs via screen mirroring. Remote control is handled by the Eversolo Control app (iOS and Android). Signal processing includes a 10-band parametric equaliser, FIR filters, selectable digital filters and acoustic room and speaker correction using a measurement microphone - the Eversolo EM-01 microphone is available as an option.
