HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi
The HiFiMAN HE1000 WiFi takes the architecture of the famous HE1000 — a reference planar magnetic headphone — and integrates a complete digital system. R2R DAC, amplification, and wireless connectivity are directly built into the earcups. The result: headphones capable of operating alone, without an amplifier or external source, while maintaining a clear high-end ambition.
WiFi Streaming: The Real Gap Compared to Bluetooth
The HE1000 WiFi relies on audio transmission via WiFi to overcome the limitations of Bluetooth. Where Bluetooth compresses the signal, WiFi provides sufficient bandwidth to transmit high-resolution lossless audio. This allows users to fully enjoy services like Qobuz or Tidal with significantly superior quality compared to classic codecs.
Planar Magnetic + Stealth Magnet
Here we find the technological core of the HE1000: a planar magnetic transducer combined with a nanometer diaphragm and Stealth Magnets. This combination reduces turbulence and improves signal transparency. The result is extremely detailed, fast, and coherent sound reproduction across the entire spectrum, with a particularly wide soundstage.
Himalaya R2R DAC and Integrated Amplification
The HE1000 WiFi integrates a proprietary R2R DAC (Himalaya Mini), coupled with internal amplification. This choice is important: HiFiMAN doesn't just add wireless functionality but offers a complete, internally optimized audio chain. The headphones can also function as USB audio, making them a true all-in-one system.
Sound Signature: Flagship Level
The sound reproduction here is typical of the HE1000: clean and articulate bass, very natural mids, extremely detailed yet controlled highs. The soundstage is vast, with excellent separation of layers. This is clearly a headphone oriented towards critical listening and demanding audiophiles.
An Extreme Positioning
The HE1000 WiFi doesn't aim to replace classic headphones, but a complete setup. It's a radical proposition: integrating a streamer, DAC, and amp into high-end open-back headphones. An innovative approach, but one that also dictates a choice: accepting a fixed chain in exchange for maximum simplicity.
