The Element IV runs on the third-generation XMOS hardware and software platform, seamlessly integrated with the latest discrete optical encoder. Auto gain helps you focus on listening rather than pressing buttons, and an auto-hiding display shows the essentials while you switch between USB and optical inputs and headphone or preamp outputs. Although headphone listening usually requires only a few milliwatts, the Element IV, with its tetradeca output buffers, delivers more than 3200 mW per channel of perfectly clean, distortion-free power. It can easily drive every headphone on the market, from balanced headphones to the most demanding planar magnetics.

Parametric EQ powered by JDS Labs Core™

Designed for ease of use, the Element IV's fully custom DSP engine supports up to 10 bands of real-time EQ, while integrating seamlessly with auto gain. Adjust EQ profiles graphically in the JDS Labs Core software, and your settings are saved directly on the device. No download required! Your settings persist even if you move the Element IV to another room, another PC or a console.

Auto gain

Forget about setting gain. The Element IV handles it automatically for you. When you turn the knob past 0 dB, high gain kicks in and the volume is adjusted accordingly for a smooth transition to optimal settings.

Perfect channel balance

The Element IV offers perfect channel balance down to -127.5 dBFS, for remarkable precision and depth.

Preamp outputs

The Element IV has preamp outputs that let you control the volume of your active speakers. Switch from headphones to speakers simply by pressing the rotary knob. Each mode (headphones or speakers) saves its own volume and EQ profiles.

Customisable buttons

The tactile rotary knob switches between headphone and speaker mode, without unplugging any cables. You can also customise button functions in JDS Labs Core to suit your needs.

OLED display and Gorilla Glass

The display shows essential information only when you interact with it, then turns off to reduce distractions. Although every option is available through the OLED menu, the JDS Labs Core app offers a much better experience. The display is protected by tinted Gorilla Glass for added durability.

DC protection and safety

The Element IV uses a proven analogue DC detection circuit, with a built-in safety relay to protect your headphones. This relay also eliminates power-on noises. In addition, independent processors continuously monitor internal communications and volume status for extra safety.

USB Type-C connectivity

The USB Type-C input supports up to 32/384 kHz PCM via a third-generation UAC2 engine based on the XU316, with ASIO and DSD support. EQ bands are available up to 192 kHz, and two bands are supported at higher PCM rates.

UAC2 and UAC1 compatibility for consoles

Easily switch from UAC2 to UAC1 mode in the options menu for compatibility with the PS5, Nintendo Switch or older operating systems. This flexibility ensures optimal use with any system.

Discrete optical encoder – An unrivalled knob

The Element IV has a second-generation discrete encoder with 50% more ribs, offering faster response and smooth rotation thanks to a sturdy steel shaft. Optical sensors ensure exceptional durability over millions of rotations.

Mains isolation and ±17V rails

The Element IV's amplifier and DAC are powered exclusively by an external AC transformer. With 13 regulators, it ensures stable voltage, ultra-low noise and perfect isolation from the mains. D/A conversion benefits from a dedicated LT3045 regulator for flawless sound quality.
