Although headphone listening typically requires only a few milliwatts, the Element IV, thanks to its tetradeca output buffers, delivers over 3200 mW per channel with perfectly clean, distortion-free power. It can easily power any headphone on the market, from balanced to the most power-hungry planarmagnetic headphones.

Parametric Equalizer powered by JDS Labs Core™

Designed for ease of use, the Element IV's fully custom DSP engine supports up to 10 bands of real-time EQ, while integrating seamlessly with Auto Gain. Graphically adjust EQ profiles via JDS Labs Core software, and your adjustments will be saved directly to the device. No download required! Your settings persist even if you move the Element IV to another room, PC, or console.

Automatic gain

Forget the hassle of adjusting gain. The Element IV handles it automatically for you. When you turn the knob beyond 0 dB, high gain is activated, and the volume is adjusted accordingly for a seamless transition to optimal settings.

Perfect channel balance

The Element IV delivers perfect channel balance down to -127.5 dBFS, ensuring remarkable sonic accuracy and depth.

Preamplified outputs

The Element IV features pre-outs, allowing you to control the volume of your powered speakers. Switch between headphones and speakers with a simple press of the rotary knob. Each mode (headphones or speakers) stores its own volume and EQ profiles.

Customizable buttons

The touch-sensitive rotary knob switches between headphone and speaker mode without disconnecting cables. You can also customize the button functions via JDS Labs Core to suit your needs.

OLED screen and Gorilla Glass

The screen displays essential information only during interactions, then turns off to reduce distractions. While all options are accessible via the OLED menu, the JDS Labs Core app offers a significantly improved experience. The screen is protected by tinted Gorilla Glass for added durability.

DC Protection and Security

The Element IV uses a proven analog DC detection circuit, with a built-in safety relay to protect your headphones. This relay also eliminates startup noise. In addition, independent processors continuously monitor internal communications and volume status for enhanced security.

USB Type C connection

The USB Type-C input supports up to 32/384kHz PCM via a third-generation UAC2 engine based on the XU316, with ASIO and DSD compatibility. EQ bands are available up to 192kHz, and two bands are supported at higher PCM rates.

UAC2 and UAC1 compatibility for consoles

Easily switch between UAC2 and UAC1 modes from the options menu for compatibility with PS5, Nintendo Switch, or older operating systems. This flexibility ensures optimal use with any system.

Discreet Optical Encoder – One Button Like No Other

The Element IV features a second-generation discrete encoder with 50% more ribs, delivering faster response and smooth rotation thanks to a robust steel shaft. Optical sensors ensure exceptional durability for millions of rotations.

Mains isolation and ±17V rails

The Element IV's amplifier and DAC are powered exclusively by an external AC transformer. With 13 regulators, it guarantees stable voltage, ultra-low noise, and perfect isolation from the mains. The D/A conversion benefits from a dedicated LT3045 regulator for impeccable sound quality.
