Large diaphragm FET condenser microphone

A modern FET microphone with a vintage feel, a sleek body, and the same S23 capsule as the 023 Bomblet. The 1973 is a high-end yet affordable large-diaphragm microphone, featuring an in-house capsule and impeccable build quality. Like the other mics in the Soyuz family, the 1973 is neither a copy nor a clone, but a true “ modern classic .” It was designed and manufactured using period methods, in-house, with extreme attention to detail and no compromises.

The capsule

The 1973 is equipped with an in-house S23 capsule, also used in the famous 023 Bomblet microphone. The S23 is a unique capsule with a fascinating history. In the early 1970s, LOMO reworked an AKG CK12 capsule, adding three backplates to improve its performance. In 2015, Soyuz engineers redesigned it for the 023 Bomblet, then adapted it further for the 1973, while retaining the smooth response and punchy character for which it is renowned.

The resonator

The 1973 features a custom resonator that reduces unwanted resonances and also provides protection against plosives, making it an excellent choice for vocals, dubbing, and podcasts.

The design

The 1973's shape makes it ideal for capturing hard-to-reach sources and makes it the perfect companion for any mobile studio or gigging setup. The 1973 is rugged, compact, and extremely durable, designed to last a lifetime.

Attenuator

The 1973 is equipped with two attenuators (-10 and -20 dB) making it suitable for high volume sources such as kick drums and amps.

The sound

The 1973 uses a transformerless design and boasts the lowest self-noise of any Soyuz microphone. Despite this, it retains what many call the “Soyuz sound”: a present but balanced bass, a dynamic and open midrange, and a smooth, non-aggressive top end.
