12.5" Sealed Analog Active Subwoofer

The Elephant is the subwoofer of Telegrapher's original range, designed to pair with the sealed Fox, Gorilla, Gorilla S and Rhino monitors. Handmade in Istanbul, it combines a 32 cm driver, dedicated 2 x 500 W amplification and active analog filtering. The listed price is for one subwoofer (sold individually).

Sealed design, analog filtering and dedicated amplification

Telegrapher, founded by RJ and Emery during Covid, designs its loudspeakers with the standards and processes of the luxury car industry. The Elephant follows the principle of the original range: a sealed enclosure with no port, for tight bass free of port noise. Its 32 cm (12.5") driver uses a patented foam-filled sandwich paper cone. It is driven by two bridged class D amplifiers of 500 W each, with a stated THD+N of 0.0018%.

Performance

Frequency response extends from 20 to 300 Hz, with the −3 dB point at 41.7 Hz and the −6 dB point at 31.7 Hz. Peak SPL reaches 110.5 dB at 1 m. The subwoofer includes comprehensive protection: automatic shutdowns and LED alerts for electrical faults, high-frequency input, overheating and clipping.

Integration with Telegrapher monitors and controls

The 2nd-order low-pass filter is adjustable from 30 to 300 Hz to blend the subwoofer with the monitors. Phase is adjustable over 360° using the 0–180° potentiometer and the phase reverse switch on the rear panel, and gain ranges from −∞ to +6 dB. The Elephant accepts two channels on balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA via an XLR/RCA selector; when both channels are connected, the signal is summed to mono. Through outputs (XLR or RCA) send the signal on to the monitors. Auto standby after 120 minutes can be disabled.

Applications

In a mixing or mastering studio, the Elephant completes a Telegrapher system for accurate judgement of the low end. Its RCA inputs also make it well suited to a high-end hi-fi system. It is available in Trooper White, Crow Black and Jaipur Orange, with a matte soft-touch finish.
