Active bass trap

The AVAA C225 is the most powerful active absorber PSI Audio has built. It removes room modes between 12 and 130 Hz with no tuning at all, and keeps working up to 135 dB SPL, where the previous models started limiting around 115 dB. This is the version made for rooms that play loud.

Two 10-inch drivers and 300 W

To handle those levels, PSI Audio fitted two 10-inch drivers, developed a new sensor able to measure acoustic pressure under extreme conditions, and powered the whole thing with a 300 W class G/H amplifier. The C225 reaches down to 12 Hz, lower than the C214, to catch the modes of larger rooms.

No calibration, no signal sent into the room

The AVAA does not use phase cancellation and injects nothing into the room. It changes the acoustic impedance of the air in front of it and behaves like a hole in the wall: it absorbs the energy of a room mode before a standing wave can build. Place it in a rigid corner, where pressure is highest, switch it on, and that is it — no measurement microphone, no simulation, no target frequency. PSI Audio rates it as efficient as a porous absorber forty times its volume.

Home cinema, clubs and high-level studios

The C225 targets high-end home cinema installations, small clubs, demonstration rooms and studios working at elevated levels. In those rooms the low end has to stay tight and readable while the system pushes considerable energy below 50 Hz, and that is exactly where a room mode turns an impact into a lingering hum. The unit is controlled from an app. Like everything the brand makes, it is developed and built in Switzerland and calibrated in an anechoic chamber before shipping.
